...ways to integrate technology
into any classroom.
|
Teachers can integrate technology into their classrooms by using email, creating Web sites, blogs, podcasts and more. The technology is easy to learn and the benefits are extraordinary. By spending a few minutes looking at the articles, tutorials and samples on these pages you'll see how easy it can be to effectively use technology in your classroom. The most often used component of the Internet is email. Unfortunately, it is also the least used in the classroom. Email can easily be effectively integrated into classrooms. You can learn how to create a Web page in five minutes...or less! No kidding! The software you need is free and easy to learn. Look at the How to Make a Web Page to get started. Once you see how easy it is you will want to know what a teacher Web site might contain. Our teacher sample site will give you some ideas. The Web site checklist will give you suggestions to consider when making your teacher or classroom site. Web pages are one of the best ways to motivate students to write. If you ask a typical class if they want to write a composition the overwhelming answer will probably be NO! If you ask the same group if they want to help you create a Web site, the answer is likely to be very different. The fact is that Web sites and compositions are actually the same. Web Sites vs. Compositions goes into this more. An example of what a student can do is shown in the George Washington example. Students can easily create their own Web pages. Once students start creating their own pages you can compile them into a larger class project. An example of what that might look like is show on the class project sample site. Two of the most exciting new components of the Internet are blogs and podcasts. Teachers are getting to know how to add them to their Web sites. Bookmark this page so that you can find it again. Tell other teachers about it. Also, feel free to link your school page to this one so that many other teachers can learn how to web their classrooms.
